Bus driver trapped for an hour

A BUS driver was trapped for more than an hour after his bus crashed into a Stobie pole, damaging powerlines, at Gilles Plains this morning.

The man, 49, was trapped by his legs following the crash on Wandana Ave, about 8.30am.

Metropolitan Fire Service crews freed the man about 9.50am, after power to the area was isolated.

Crews were forced to cut the bus open and cut away the driver's seat to reach the driver.

The driver and one passenger were taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with minor injuries.

Traffic on Wandana Ave is expected to be restricted to one lane for the rest of today, while the bus is removed and the powerlines are repaired.
