A PIZZA festival could be used as a way to promote Campbelltown's plethora of food businesses.
Campbelltown Council is in the early stages of planning the festival, which would be combined with another community event, such as Campbelltown Celebrates.
The festival, which would include pizza making and eating competitions, demonstrations and celebrity chefs, would allow businesses to promote their products and encourage shoppers to spend more dollars in the area, Campbelltown chief executive Paul Di Iulio said.
Rostrevor Pizzeria owner Gaetano Lepore said the festival would help small businesses.
"I think it's a very good idea," Mr Lepore told the East Torrens Messenger.
"We have a wonderful and loyal customer base, but it would expose us to other people in the area.
"It would be nice for people to know what's cooking."
The council will consider allocating $6800 toward the Pizza Festival as part of the upcoming 2013-14 draft business pland and budget, which will go out for community consultation on April 22.
A public meeting on the budget will be held in May before it is adopted in June.
