Arsonists light series of small fires at Aldinga

POLICE are investigating a series of deliberately lit fires in Aldinga this morning.

A resident called 000 just before 3am after spotting a group of youths lighting a bush in the front of a display home on Wild Orchid Drive.

Police discovered up to six small fires had been lit along the road after arriving a short time later.

The fires burned out before taking hold.

Arsonists set Davoren Park fires

POLICE say a series of fires in the Davoren Park area overnight were deliberately lit.

Numerous fires were lit in quick succession between 3.40am and 3.50am.

Offenders set fire to trees and shrubs in Westwood and Bratton streets, and to the front porch of a house in Sandford Rd. The occupants of the Sandford Rd house managed to extinguish the fire before it caused serious damage.

Two male youths were seen walking along the railway tracks nearby at this time.

Arsonists torch business, steal boat, car

ARSONISTS are believed to have lit a $250,000 fire at a Seaford crash repair shop, before stealing a car and boat.

Metropolitan Fire Service crews were called to Mec-Tec Performance on Farrow Circuit about 12.45am when flames were spotted coming through the roof of the business.

Movement detectors had been triggered at the business and firefighters arrived to find a gate open and a roller door part opened.

It took about 90 minutes for more than 30 firefighters to contain and extinguish the blaze.

Damage was estimated to be $250,000 but much of the workshop was saved, an MFS spokeswoman said.

Fire cause investigators believe the blaze was deliberately lit.

A boat on a trailer and a Mitsubishi Pajero four-wheel drive were also stolen from the premises, police said.

The Pajero was later found on fire on Quarry Rd, Old Noarlunga, about 1.40am.
