Pair 'fled armed robbery, set car alight'

A PAIR of 20-year-olds have been arrested in the Barossa Valley after allegedly fleeing an armed robbery in a stolen car which they then set on fire.

Police allege a man armed with a knife threatened staff at the Cockatoo Valley General Store on Williamstown Road about 3.45pm yesterday before fleeing with cash and cigarettes in a stolen red Nissan Pulsar, driven by another man.

Police rushing to the store saw the car on fire nearby and then found the duo trying to start up another car near the junction of Rosedale Road and Barossa Valley Highway.

The men, from Reeves Plains and Karoonda ,were refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday.

Man arrested after robbery attempt

A GEELONG man has been arrested after a robbery attempt at a Mount Gambier service station early this morning.

A 24-year-old man from Geelong has been arrested after an attempted robbery at a Service Station in Mount Gambier early this morning.

About 4am, a man walked into the Commercial Rd station, told staff he had a knife and demanded money.

No knife was seen and when staff refused to hand over cash the would-be robber fled.

Within minutes, police found a man allegedly hiding down the side of a nearby house.

The 24-year-old was refused police bail.

Pair caught planning hotel robbery

A MAN and two youths have been arrested after police spotted them in a hotel car park in Kilburn with knives and masks.

About 8.30pm last night, a 16-year-old boy from Edwardstown and a 21-year-old man from Westbourne Park were seen in the car park on Prospect Rd in possession of several knives and facemasks.

Police allege that the pair were about to rob the hotel.

They were both charged with going equipped to commit an offence.

The man will appear in the Holden Hill Magistrates Court on May 9, and the boy will appear in the Adelaide Youth Court on March 22.

A 17-year-old boy from Port Adelaide who was with the pair was also arrested for possessing liquor as a minor.

Man knocked to ground in armed robbery

A MAN was threatened with knives before being punched and knocked to the ground in a robbery at Davoren Park on Sunday night.

About 11.45pm, the man, 26, was walking alone on Coventry Rd when he was approached by two armed men who threatened him and demanded money.

The victim suffered minor injuries from the assault.

Both suspects are described as of Caucasian appearance. One had a stocky build and wore a baseball cap. The other had short, blond hair, shaved on the sides and was wearing a white T-Shirt.
