A MOTHER'S push for new play equipment at a Greenwith park has been backed by 110 others who have signed her petition.

Sonia Romanu's petition calling for upgrades to Martindale Reserve, on Cobbler Drive, has been lodged with Tea Tree Gully Council.

Mrs Romanu said the park's play equipment, including its slide and swings, were "outdated".

"There isn't much for little kids to do up here," she said.

"The equipment is run-down and outdated. I would be happy if we got a larger playground, or something for the young and old."

Mrs Romanu said the reserve had not been upgraded since she moved to the area 15 years ago.

"Other parks in the area are being upgraded, but just not this one," she said.

"It doesn't seem fair."

The council's civil assets manager Gabby D'Aloia said the park would not be upgraded this financial year.

"The 120 playgrounds across the city are systematically reviewed to ensure maintenance of high child safety standards," Mr D'Aloia said.

He said the council had not received complaints about the reserve, but would consider residents' concerns.
