A 20-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested after a reportedly stolen utility led police on a high-speed chase and allegedly swerved towards an officer last night.
The man from Andrews Farm faces multiple charges including drink driving and driving disqualified.
About 9.45pm, police spotted a black utility allegedly driving erratically on Main North Rd at Elizabeth Park.
Police checked details of the car and the number plate was recorded as stolen.
They say the ute took off at speed and continued to drive dangerously through the northern suburbs.
A police helicopter followed it from a safe distance.
Spikes were deployed in different locations but were did not stop the car.
Police allege the ute swerved towards a patrol officer standing near the spikes, narrowly missing him.
At 11.20pm, the vehicle was spotted travelling south on Goodwood Rd.
A patrol car was nearby and as the ute turned into Daws Rd, it stopped and police were able to intercept it and arrest the driver.
The man was taken to the Sturt Police Station where he was charged with driving in a manner dangerous, aggravated acts likely to cause harm, unlawful possession, driving disqualified and drink driving.
He was refused police bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today.
Investigations continue into the ownership of the utility and whether there was more than one person in the car at the time of the incident.
