Helicopter chases man through suburbs

A MAN has been arrested after leading police on a pursuit through numerous Adelaide suburbs.

At about 12.50am, police say the man, 33, was driving a stolen blue Ford ute on Grand Junction Rd at Northgate.

It was seen shortly after on Main North Rd driving at high speed.

Police requested assistance from the police helicopter, which took over the pursuit.

The ute was then seen driving through the western suburbs on West Lakes Blvd and Grange Rd, before heading south on Marion Road.

Police deployed road spikes at the front of the Netley police station before the vehicle came to a stop near Wood St, Ascot Park.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the car, was located shortly after by patrols.

He was arrested and charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified, driving dangerously to escape police pursuit and breaching home detention.

The man, of no fixed address, will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.
