A TEENAGE girl has died after falling from a moving car at Risdon Park, near Port Pirie.
John Pirie Secondary School student Annabelle Watson, 15, died yesterday in the Women's and Children's Hospital.
She suffered critical injuries when she opened the door of a moving silver Kia van on Esmond Rd about 7.50pm on Saturday.
Police are not treating her death as suspicious.
John Pirie Secondary School principal Roger Nottage said staff and students were saddened to learn of Annabelle's death.
It comes less than three months after fellow John Pirie student Rebecca Wild was murdered at Quorn.
"It's an absolute tragedy and it's a tragedy in its own right without connecting it to the events of last year," he said.
"We should just spend some time connecting and thinking and reflecting on Annabelle and her short life. It's definitely a really sad day for us."
Mr Nottage said students were being counselled and staff were finding it difficult to deal with the latest tragedy to hit the school.
Annabelle's friends have posted their tributes on social networking site Facebook.
"r.i.p Annabelle, our family we will always miss u and u will always be in our heart," one friend said.
Another friend posted: "R.I.P, it still hasn't hit me that you are gone, love you."
"Sad to hear this, I'm going to miss one of my amazing friends xx," another friend's tribute said.
Meanwhile, a Victorian man, 22, died in a crash at Coonawarra on Saturday night.
He was driving along Rocky Castle Rd when his car crashed into a tree and rolled over, about 10.45pm.
He died at the scene.
The deaths take the state's road toll to 17, compared with 16 at the same time last year.
