A MAN has been shot in the chest in Mt Gambier, in what police believe is an accidental shooting.
Police and ambulance officers were called to a property at Burrungule just after 11.30pm, following a report that a 22-year-old man had sustained a gunshot wound to his chest.
The report also said the firearm was discharged by another male as the men were handling the firearm.
The man is having surgery to remove the .22 calibre bullet.
The other man has been detained by police and is assisting them with their inquiries.
